The use of the earth’s internal heart to heat and cool our living environments is
geothermal. It has been used through out the world for centuries. California has plants in
both northern and southern regions. It is now being used in homes and has become more
affordable to implement in new construction. It is more expensive to use in a retrofit. The
information is vas on the Internet, I found conflicting depths needed to be most effective,
some were three to five feet; others were up to seven feet. Some systems used a well with
a closed loop for the fluid to exchange the heat, this would be much more expensive.
